The Awaken Experiences in Costa Mesa Studio
Awaken is ARTime BARRO's collection of beginner pottery experiences designed to introduce you to the potter's wheel and hand building through the creation of everyday ceramic vessels. Learn foundational techniques while making functional pieces you'll treasure from bowls and cups to dishes and more! All in a relaxed and supportive studio environment.
The Intro to Clay Class
This is a one-time class for people wanting to experience pottery and ceramics for the first time, or for anyone interested in getting back into it. Great for a date or a family class as well!
In the Intro to Clay Class, each person makes 2 pieces, one on the table and one on the wheel. The instructor will guide you through the basic curriculum of pottery.
The projects made are small to medium sized. The class is one hour long and we give you the option to come back and glaze (paint) the pieces 2 weeks after your initial class (no extra fee, we email you to book) or you can also select for us to glaze the pieces for you.
What You'll Make: 2 pieces of your choice; one on the table (hand building) and one on the wheel

Duration: 1 hour; hand building & on the wheel

The First Throw Class
In this one-time class, we focus on the wheel throwing experience. We recommend to first take the Intro to Clay Class, but you’d like to go straight into the wheel, this is also a great option to begin with!
In the First Throw Class, each person makes a 12 oz ceramic bowl and matching 9 oz dish or plate. on the wheel. The instructor will guide you through the basic curriculum of working on the wheel.
The class is one hour long and we give you the option to come back and glaze (paint) the pieces 2 weeks after your initial class (no extra fee, we email you to book) or you can also select for us to glaze the pieces for you.
What You'll Make: One 12 oz bowl + one matching 9 oz dish/plate, both thrown on the pottery wheel
Skill Level: Perfect for beginners
Duration: 1 hour on the wheel
Cost: $62 per person

The Second Throw Class
In this one-time class, we focus on the wheel throwing experience. We recommend to first take The First Thrown Class, but you’d like to go straight into this class, this is also a great option to begin with!
In the Second Throw Class, each person makes an approximately 1 lb cup + one 12 oz bowl on the wheel. The instructor will guide you through the basic curriculum of working on the wheel.
The class is one hour long and we give you the option to come back and glaze (paint) the pieces 2 weeks after your initial class (no extra fee, we email you to book) or you can also select for us to glaze the pieces for you.
What You'll Make: One approximately 1 lb cup + one 12 oz bowl

Monthly Ongoing Membership
Our Ongoing Classes are designed for students who want to build their ceramic skills over time in a supportive, small-group environment.
Choose the membership that best fits your interests with either our Handbuilding Ongoing Membership or Wheel Throwing Ongoing Membership. Both options provide personalized instruction tailored to your experience level, whether you're just getting started or looking to refine your technique. All experience levels are welcome.

Open Studio
Open studio is for independent artists who are experienced enough to work on their own and who need the space and machines/tools to work with. The fee includes the use of machines, tools, and space and the bisque firing of all of the pieces made within the time you are in the open studio.
