Matcha Kit Wheel Workshop

Craft your own ceramic matcha set — from first spin on the wheel to your future morning ritual.

A Workshop Rooted in Ritual & Creation

You asked, we delivered. After seeing our community fall in love with the calm, grounding nature of matcha and the meditative rhythm of pottery, we created a workshop that blends the two into one meaningful experience.

This is not just wheel throwing.
This is a moment to slow down, tune in, and create functional pieces that invite mindfulness into your everyday life.

Imagine the soft hum of the wheel, the cool weight of clay in your hands, and the future memory of sipping matcha from a bowl you shaped yourself. This workshop is designed to shift you from “doing” into being—one breath, one rotation, one intention at a time.

Who Is It For?

For beginner potters (18+) who want an immersive, guided experience that blends creativity, mindfulness, and craft.
For anyone who wants to deepen their rituals with handmade objects.
For those who crave a slower pace and the joy of making something meaningful with their hands.

What You’ll Experience

During this two-hour workshop, you’ll explore the harmony between pottery and the traditional Japanese matcha ritual—both rooted in presence, simplicity, and craft.

You’ll learn how matcha, once used by Buddhist monks to support meditation, evolved into the tea ceremonies practiced throughout Japan today. And you’ll discover how creating with clay mirrors that same meditative focus: steady movements, mindful breath, intentional shaping.

You’ll leave with:

  • A stronger connection to your creative instincts

  • A sense of calm and clarity from being fully present

  • A deeper understanding of matcha and its origins

  • Three functional ceramic pieces for your at-home matcha experience

Class Size

Limited to 8 participants for a focused, hands-on, supportive environment.

What You’ll Make

With pre-centered clay, you’ll throw your very own matcha set:

  • Matcha bowl with pouring spout (2 lbs)

  • Whisk holder (10 oz)

  • Sipping cup (1 lb)

Each piece will be dip-glazed in a beautiful, food-safe finish you’ll select at the end of class.

Cost

$85 per person
Includes all clay, tools, glaze, firing, and instruction. Nothing to bring—just yourself.

Course Flow

1. Demo & Learning

Your instructor will demonstrate how to throw:

  • A functional matcha bowl

  • A whisk holder

  • A simple, minimalist cup

You’ll learn techniques for shaping, forming, trimming, and finishing each piece.

2. Hands-On Creation

Then it’s your turn.
Hop on the wheel, feel the clay, and bring your pieces to life with one-on-one support throughout the session.

Artist Bio: Georgia

From diving into Pacific waves to navigating New York subways, Georgia approaches life—and art—with fearless curiosity. Her work draws from the flavors of her mother’s Israeli kitchen, the music of her father’s piano, and the late-night conversations that shape who we become.

For Georgia, clay is a way to connect—with stories, with people, with the present moment. Her classes are warm, intuitive, and rooted in the belief that creativity lives in all of us.
